According to sources, the Ministry said Pakistani emigrants proceed abroad through licensed Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs), Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) and direct employment visa on demand and criteria fixed by foreign employer.
The statistics as per provinces are as follows, 663,305 were sent abroad for employment during 2013 and up to October 2014 from Punjab province, 129,235 from Sindh, 292,168 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 15,503 from Balochistan, 67,752 from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) 2,961 from Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and 84,132 Pakistanis were sent from Azad Jammu Kashmir, stated sources.
Sources quoted Ministry as stating that the selection of workers for employment abroad is carried out by the foreign employers themselves or through their representatives in the country.
