1. Akshay Kumar
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was arrested in March 2009 when he was accused of obscenity during a public event. During the Lakme Fashion Week in March of 2009, Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna was photographed unbuttoning his trousers, which he was wearing at the ramp. Akshay surrendered himself to the police along with his lawyer and was taken into custody.
2. Sonali Bendre
Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre was arrested for hurting the sentiments of Hindus for posing ‘inappropriately’ for a magazine. After going to jail for a brief stint, Sonali was granted bail.
3. Fardeen Khan
Star of many Bollywood films such as Om, Jai, Jagdish and Jungle, Fardeen Khan was arrested for possessing cocaine. The actor was let off easy though; since he had possessed a very small amount of the drug, he had to sign up for treatment.
4. John Abraham
Shootout at Wadala actor John Abraham was also in trouble with the law when his fondness for bikes got the better of him. The Bollywood star was charged for rash driving, when he accidentally hit two people while riding his bike, in 2010. Abraham was granted bail, after being sentenced to 15 days in prison.
5. Shiney Ahuja
The Gangster actor was apprehended by authorities for allegedly raping his maid in his flat. Indian courts sentenced Ahuja for seven years imprisonment, which affected the Bollywood actor’s career significantly. The verdict hindered Ahuja from obtaining meaty roles in the Indian film industry.
6. Salman Khan
Salman Khan went shooting for a film in Rajasthan, like literally! The Bollywood superstar shot some antelopes during his stay in Rajasthan and as a result, he had to spend a few days in jail as well.
7. Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to jail-time following his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. Allegedly committed by Dawood Ibrahim, the blasts killed nearly 257 people and injured scores of others. Sanjay Dutt was charged in connection with the case for possessing illegal weapons.
8. Saif Ali Khan
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan turned out to be the bad boy of the Indian film industry, when he punched a fellow diner at a posh restaurant. The actor was at the hotel with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and his sister-in-law Karisma Kapoor, when the brawl took place. Saif was arrested by police, since he had broken the complainant’s nose.
9. Madhubala
Arguably the most beautiful actress to ever grace the Indian film industry, Mumtaz Jehan aka Madhubala was arrested and taken into custody when she failed to act in a 1957 movie, by the name of Naya Daur. The actress had taken an advance from director B.R.Chopra yet had decided not to act in the movie. Interestingly, Dilip Kumar also testified against the actress and in favour of the director in court, which soured relations between the two Bollywood megastars.
10. Monica Bedi
A fairly mediocre actress from the 90s, Monica Bedi was arrested in 2006 on charges of obtaining a passport in a fictitious name. In November 2010, the Supreme Court of India upheld her conviction but reduced the jail term to the period that she had already served.
