KARACHI: CTD arrests TTP commander as police and Rangers round up several suspects
Speaking at a press conference, SSP CTD Amir Farooqui said that the law enforcers conducted a raid in Soharb Goth and arrested Hanif Khan, commander of TTP’s Sajna Group, who had recently sneaked into Karachi to establish his network here.
The suspect was said to be involved in attacks on Frontier Corps (FC) checkposts in Makeen Bazar, Dashka, Lala Ziarat, and killing of security personnel.
In another raid, CTD arrested a ‘target killer’ identified as Imran alias Commando, who was said to be affiliated with a political party.
The suspect confessed killing nine people including a police officer.
Officials of the CTD apprehended two more ‘hitmen’ and recovered 10,000 live rounds of Kalashnikov which were buried under the soil in North Karachi, upon identification of one of the arrested suspects named Mohammad Kashif.
Intelligence agencies continued with their efforts to maintain law and order in Karachi. Police arrested 10 suspects in Gizri and recovered weapons from them. In North Nazimabad, a robber was caught by the public and beaten severely. After being subjected to a severe beating, citizens handed over the suspect to police.
Before these raids, Rangers had conducted similar activities in Khokhra Par, Yusuf Goth, Mujahid Colony and Gadap. During these raids, Rangers arrested eight suspects involved in kidnapping for ransom, smuggling of petrol from Iran and those belonging to banned outfits. Rangers rounded up the suspects and took into custody an oil tanker and weapons recovered from them.
Police arrested two extortionists from the city’s Garden area and also took into custody an injured robber from Korangi area.
Three people were killed in incidences of violence across the city.
