The ill-fated bus was en route to Patoki from Raiwind that it fell into a canal near Changa Manga due to over speeding by the driver.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while it was passing over the canal bridge and the bus subsequently fell into water.
Police, rescue members and scores of locals reached the spot and kicked off efforts to save drowning passengers.
Initial investigations established that the axle of the bus broke down that led the driver to completely lose control over the vehicle.
