18th October is day to remember martyrs, says Zardari

LAHORE: Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has said that 18th October is the day of the people who sacrificed their lives for democracy, ARY News reports.

Zardari, in his message on the anniversary of Karsaz tragedy, said that 18th October is the day to pay tribute to the people who laid their lives for democracy. He added that former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan despite the death threats towards her.

“She took the decision of returning to Pakistan for the sake of democracy”, Zardari said.

The former president further said that Pakistan was facing threats from terrorism and dictatorship and the enemies of the country were waiting for Benazir to come back.

He added that PPP government restored the 1973 constitution. He further said that the struggle for democracy still continue.
