2 policemen killed, 6 injured as blast takes place near Balochistan University

QUETTA: Two policemen were killed and six people were injured when a bomb blast took place near Balochistan University at Sariab Road, ARY News reported.

According to initial reports, the blast took place near Balochistan University’s parking area. Rescue officials disclosed the fact that two policemen were injured severely as a result of the blast and several people were also injured.

Balochistan University is located at the Sariab Road, where the blast took place. The place was crowded at the time of the blast due to the university. A police mobile vehicle was also present where the bomb went off, according to rescue officials. Among the injured shifted to the Civil Hospital were also three policemen who had been wounded in the attack.

At the moment, the intensity of the blast and amount of explosives used could not be ascertained by the Bomb Disposal Unit. Law enforcement personnel have arrived at the site and are monitoring the situation.

Windows of several buildings nearby broke and nearby cars and rickshaws were also sufficiently damaged due to the intensity of the blast.

Balochistan Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti also arrived at the blast site and spoke to media personnel. Bugti disclosed that the blast had taken place outside Balochistan University at a check-post. “Two brave police officials have been martyred and three are injured,” he revealed.
