2013 the year of Showbiz

The year 2013 was one of the most fantastic years for the local cinema and fashion industry in a decade. Where this year has brought milestone achievements for the industry, it has also stolen few bright stars of the industry along with it.

In the year 2013 around 53 local and foreign films were released which boosted the local industry.

According to Box office records, ARY Film’s WAAR broke all records of the Pakistani cinema ever made. WAAR has made a wooping business of more than 20 million only in Pakistan. The most anticipated film of Pakistan showcased some top of the line artist of the industry featuring Shan, Shamoon Abbasi, Aisha khan, Meesha Shafi and Ali azmat.

On the other hand, two other films Zinda Bhag featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Main Hoon Shahid Afridi featuring Humayun Saeed, Mahnoor Baloch and Javed Shaikh under the banner of ARY Films secured the second and third position.

In the same year on the reports presented by senior anchor Mubashir Luqman the illegal release of Indian films were also banned.

Many shinning stars were lost in the dark this year including Riaz Ur Rehman saghar, actor Nasheela, whereas, few melodious souls also left the industry with a vacuum which can never be filled again which includes Mehnaz, the legendary  Zubaida Khanam and the heart throb Reshma G.

Fashion industry was also in the news this year as the queen of scandals Veena Malik is finally married following other beauty queens including Mehreen Syed, Juggan Kazim and Sanam Baloch.

Highlighting the music industry which is facing hard times these days has also been the centre of attraction. The release of phenomenal “Eye To Eye” by Taher Shah has turned out to be a huge controversial hit via social media.

The Band JAL after a very long gap has also released their much awaited album “PYAAS”. As Farhan Saaed the vocalist of band has already parted away from JAL now the bassist Shazi has also been reported as no more with JAL.

Sajjad Ali one of the legendary personalities of the industry has also shared two melodious tracks which turned out to be a great hit “HAR ZULM” and “YAAD”.

On the other hand, Coke Studio this year featured a fusion of foreign and local artists but so far the current session has not fulfilled the audience expectation. Artists featured hits year were Atif Aslam, Umair Jaswal, Alamgir, Sanam Marvi and others.

Nescafe Basement another musical show however has attracted the audience, featuring fresh voices with magnificent covers has been a tremendous effort.

Overall this year has been quite positive for the local cinema, whereas, the music and fashion industry has also managed to maintain its flourishing pace.
