29 suspects arrested during search operation in Karachi

KARACHI: Foiling a terror bid in the city, police claimed to have arrested at least 29 suspects during latest search operations in different parts of Karachi, ARY News reported on Monday.

As per officials of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi, they have recovered a huge cache of arms from Orangi Town.

Workers of a political party were shifting weapons from one area of the city to another in a vehicle when police intercepted and arrested them, said In-charge CTD Ali Raza.

According to police officials, they also conducted a raid in the neighbourhood of Rizvia and nabbed two suspects allegedly involved in a number of street crimes.

Similarly, at least three prime suspects were apprehended in a police encounter in the city and were handed over to Dadu police officials.

All the three arrested suspects were wanted in various crimes and a spate of armed robberies, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Karachi.

Meanwhile, in the famed PIB Colony of the port city, police did a late night search operation against drugs dealers and nabbed 12 suspects.

Police said that arms and looted motorcycles were also recovered from their possession.

In the areas adjoining the Karachi Cantt Station too, police did a search and arrested another 10 suspected  persons.
