Death toll in Rahim Yar Khan road accident rises to 29

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two buses carrying passengers collided head-on in Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab leaving at least 29 people dead and dozens other injured, ARY News reported on Monday.

The ill-fated buses rammed with each other in a head-on crash near Sahja in Rahim Yar Khan leaving 20 people dead on the spot while seven others succumbed to their injuries while being carried to a hospital.

More than 90 persons were injured in the accident, scores of them said to be in a precarious condition.

One of the buses travelling to Lahore from Sadiqabad, while another carrying passengers from Lahore to Sadiqabad in southern part of Punjab. The speedy vehicles collided with each other at a blind turn on the road near Sahja.

The dead bodies have been transferred to nearby hospitals, rescue sources said. An emergency has been declared in the nearby hospitals  to attend a huge number of injured, some of them have been in critical condition, sources further said.

According to local sources, another fatal accident happened at Sahja More four years ago, in which 25 people were killed including two brides and two bridegrooms.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in Rahim Yar Khan accident. He has directed the concerned authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.
