57 students injured as tremors trigger stampede at KP school

According to Disaster Management Authority in Khyber Pakhtonkhwa, tremors of 4.5 magnitude were felt at around 9.30am and that stirred panic at school in Battagram, forcing pupils to rush out of their classes.

The students immediately came out of their classes at the third floor of school and they ran over each other in fright, leading to injuries.

The injured pupils were moved to district hospital Battagram. Thre of the injured students were said to be in serious condition.

No building part was damaged in the tremors.

On October 26, 2015 a 7.5 magnitude quake ripped across Pakistan and Afghanistan, killing more than 390 people in total. In Pakistan, at least 276 people had perished in the calamity.

Pakistan had confirmed death toll at 272, with 2,227 people injured and nearly 25,000 homes damaged, mostly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
