7 officials injured after land grabbers open fire in Lahore

LAHORE: Around seven officials were injured when land grabbers opened fire during a joint operation conducted by the Police and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), ARY News reported.

The incident took place near the rural area  of Gopi Rai in Thokar Niaz Baig where the operation was launched against encroachments and illegal settlements, when land grabbers opened fire at them.

Around seven policeman including SHO Nasir Chatta were among the injured, including police constable Imran, Saleem, Shakeel and lady constable Anam. Two of the injured belonged to the LDA.

Rescue officials shifted the injured to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, while SHO Chatta is under treatment at a private hospital. SSP Operation has said that the police has been trying to remove the illegal settlement since the last two days.

He was speaking to the media where he said that they have managed to reclaim a large section of the land. They have arrested four people including two women during the initial stage of the operation. He said that the condition of all injured of all injured policeman is out of danger.
