Birth
Parineeti Chopra was born in Ambala in a Punjabi family, October 22, 1988. Her father is a businessman and supplier to the Indian Army at Ambala Cantonment and her mother is a housewife. She has two brothers.
Education
On March 1, 2005, at the age of 17, Parineeti moved to London where she graduated with a triple honours degree in business, finance and economics from Manchester Business School.
Economic recession
She returned to India in the wake of the economic recession on March 1, 2009 and moved to Mumbai to stay with her cousin, Priyanka.
Offer from Yash Raj Films
During a visit to Yash Raj Films studio, Priyanka (who was shooting for ‘Pyaar Impossible’) introduced Parineeti to the head of the PR team of the company in January, 2010. Parineeti managed to score a job there and worked for the PR team at YRF for a considerable period of time.
Bollywood debut
In December, 2011, after impressing Aditya Chopra with her mini auditions, Parineeti was signed on as a supporting actress in ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ with Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma.
Filmfare award
Appreciated for her performance, Parineeti Chopra won Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut in 2012. Later, she also won an IIFA Award for best Female Debut of the year.
Ishaqzaade
Her second release on May 11, 2012 and first lead role was Habib Faisal’s romantic drama ‘Ishaqzaade’ with Arjun Kapoor. She won rave reviews for her performance and was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
Shuddh Desi Romance
In September, 2013, her next release ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ was a rom-com starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Vaani Kapoor. It was Parineeti’s second collaboration with Maneesh Sharma and won her lot of positive reviews.
Break from Yash Raj
Parineeti’s first release of 2014 was Dharma Productions’ romantic comedy ‘Hasee Toh Phasee,’ which was her first role outside the Yash Raj Films banner. The movie was produced by Karan Johar.
Mentoring
Parineeti Chopra was seen mentoring aspiring actors on ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’ in June, this year. She has been very encouraging of new talent.
Daawat-e-Ishq rocks
She next appeared in Habib Faisal’s romantic comedy ‘Daawat-E-Ishq’ based on dowry, which was released on September 19, 2014. She played the role of a shoe salesgirl from Hyderabad alongside Aditya Roy Kapoor. Film critics from the daily called her the ‘the best thing about the film’.
