A meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party’s provincial and central leadership was held, presided by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Organisational matters of the party were under discussion during the meeting. After the meeting, Aitzaz Ahsan said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had a habit of shooting himself in the foot time and again.

He said despite the fact that PM Nawaz committed mistakes, PPP wanted the current government to fulfill its tenure. Reiterating his stance that the parliament should be the one to decide how to handle the Saudi Arabia-Iran tensions, he demanded an All Parties Conference be called.

With reference to Chaudhry Nisar, Aitzaz Ahsan stated that Nisar did not follow the Prime Minister’s directives since his orders came from somewhere else. He also said Chaudhry Nisar wasn’t on good terms even with fellow ministers.

With regard to the operation in Karachi, Ahsan said PPP’s reservations with regard to Rangers were based on principles. He said accountability was being conducted in Sindh only whereas no one paid heed to corruption in Punjab. He further said that Rangers were called in for counter-terrorism practices. However, he was of the view that through Rangers, some interests were being served.
