ADB President to arrive Pakistan on three-day visit

ISLAMABAD: President of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao will come to Pakistan on Monday on a 3-day visit and will hold meetings with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, ARY News reported.

According to sources, government’s economic team will discuss with him the overall macroeconomic situation in the country and the ADB’s assistance in solving the critical issues facing the economy.

Earlier on Saturday, ADB’s Country Director Werner Leipach called on Ishaq Dar to discuss the details of the upcoming visit of ADB President.

During the meeting Werner Leipach said that ADB wants the upcoming visit to be fruitful through discussion on projects of national importance. He also extended condolences on behalf of the ADB President on the loss of life and colossal damage caused by the recent floods.

The Finance Minister, on the other hand, expressed pleasure at the ADB’s interest in Islamic mode of financing saying that “We shall issue Sukuk bonds soon and hope that it will be as much oversubscribed as Eurobond.”
