Admiral Zakaullah assumes charge as the new Chief of Naval Staff

ISLAMABAD: Newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Zakaullah has said that Pakistan Navy has always played an effective role both at national as well as regional level, as per the government policy, ARY News reported.

Addressing the change of command ceremony of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Zakaullah said that increasing navy’s high combat capabilities will be his top priority.

He added that along with effective warfare capabilities, exemplary manpower is also a bare necessity for a strong navy.

Earlier to this, outgoing Chief Admiral Asif Sandila handed over the command of the Pakistan Navy to Admiral Zakaullah, during a dignified ceremony held at the Naval Headquarters Islamabad.

The President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain had appointed Admiral Zakaullah as the new Chief of Naval Staff, upon the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He was recruited as a commissioned officer in the Pakistan Navy in 1978.

Admiral Zakaullah graduated from the National Defence University and Royal Naval Staff College, Britain. He had also been the defence attaché of Pakistan in Qatar.
