That makes ‘King’ Khan the owner of not one but two cricketing teams. Expanding his control to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) by owning the team Trinidad and Tobago.

Shah Rukh already is the owner of the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKL). Shah Rukh Khan has bought Trinidad and Tobago with his Kolkata Knight Riders co-owners, actress Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta. Interestingly, Shah Rukh’s recent movie can conclude in a situation with Bollywood bracing itself for a showdown with Hollywood, as American actors Mark Wahlberg and Gerard Butler also own teams in the Caribbean Premier League. Italian Job star Mark Wahlberg owns the cricket team Barbados Tridents whilst Gerard Butler has bought Jamaica Tallawahs.

Khan has brought glitz, glamour and worldwide attention to the Indian Premier League. His contemporaries Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty have also owned cricketing teams in IPL. Whether ‘King’ Khan will be able to successfully steer Trinidad and Tobago to various victories, will be put to the test when the third edition of the tournament commences from June 20th of this year.

“This is in line with our vision to expand globally . We are thrilled to become part of the cricketing tradition of Trinidad & Tobago,” Shahrukh Khan told Times of India. “The passion for franchise cricket in the Caribbean is evident with the success of CPL and we hope to bring all the best practices of KKR to the T&T franchise,” he added.
