Ajmal's inclusion in WC squad is uncertain: Shahryar Khan

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan said on Friday that he is not sure whether Saeed Ajmal would be the part of World Cup or not, ARY News reported.

Talking to media in Karachi today, Shahryar Khan said PCB has worked very hard to get Ajmal’s bowling action correct.

“Although Saqlain Mushtaq has worked a lot over Ajmal’s action but inclusion of the spin maestro in the World Cup squad is still uncertain”, he added.

The bowling action of 37-year-old was reported in August during the Galle Test against Sri Lanka and later he was suspended after a bio-mechanical analysis found his action illegal.

Chairman PCB said some restrictions still exist for Ajmal’s inclusion in the WC squad as even now his flex is greater than allowed level of 15 degree.

“Ajmal has to decide at his own that when to approach ICC for official assessment of his bowling action, as another failure can put an end to his career” told Shahryar Khan.

Regarding final squad for World Cup, he said selecting 16-member squad for mega event is selector’s responsibility and whether to include Ajmal or not will be decided by the selectors too.

Replying to question, Chairman PCB said decision regarding two posts occupied by Moin Khan will be made soon.
