All cases against Zulfiqar Mirza ‘fabricated’: Fehmida

KARACHI: Former National Assembly speaker Fehmida Mirza said on Saturday that all her hopes in husband Zulfiqar Mirza’s case lie in the judiciary, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media at her DHA residence, Fehmida Mirza said that all the First Information Reports (FIR) against her husband were registered by a single plaintiff adding that the Badin Superintendant Police (SP) himself ordered the forcible closure of shops and took out rallies against Zulfiqar Mirza.

About the lawyers for the rebellious leader’s case, Mrs. Mirza claimed that she did not call any lawyer to defend her husband in the court, the legal advisors came themselves to plead the case in court.

Fehmida went on to say that all will see how people will come out on to streets to express solidarity with Zulfiqar Mirza.

About her party’s concerns about her, the former speaker remarked that today PPP leaders are reminding her about the party’s favour of making her Speaker of National Assembly.

“I ask what was the criteria about the election of speaker? If I was eligible for the prestigious post according to criteria, should the party act be considered a favour?”, said Fehmida Mirza.

The PPP leader maintained that all cases against her husband are fabricated.
