Altaf clears the air with apology to Mazari, PTI women

KARACHI: Mutahidda Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has apologized to PTI leader Shireen Mazari and other women [associated with the PTI] over his remarks that stirred a real hornets’ nest in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, ARY News reported Monday.

He said he was regretful on his statements which hurt PTI women. He was exclusively speaking in ARY News program ‘Off the Record’.

ARY News virtually played a role of mediator to defuse tense political situation developed after recriminations between the PTI and the MQM.

As program host Kashif Abbasi chipped in during MQM chief’s talk saying “Shireen Mazari has personally messaged, seeking your direct apology to her”. Mr. Hussain, in response, repeated twice referring Ms Mazari ‘I am sorry!’

During his talk, he expressed ignorance about Rizwan Qureshi, who is named in the JIT report of Baldia factory fire as revealing elements behind horrible blaze that claimed over 250 lives, being MQM worker.

Earlier in the program, he said “I never spoke about Imran Khan as yet. He will come to know reality once I actually speak against him.”

Mr. Hussain cited that one of the leading English dailies of Pakistan published detailed report on alleged wrongdoings during Islamabad sit-in of PTI.

He, however, added that “I apologize to all women who are hurt by my statements.”

He also clarified that media was wrongly implying another Rizwan Qureshi, who is his relative. He appealed that media should not run unverified and baseless reports.
