Altaf Hussain case: 'Govt to contact UK authorities'

ISLAMABAD: After the registration of a case against MQM chief Altaf Hussain, the Government of Pakistan has decided now to contact the authorities in United Kingdom (UK) regarding the matter, ARY News cited sources as saying.

ARY News Islamabad bureau chief, Sabir Shakir on Tuesday quoted sources as saying that the government has tasked the Ministry of Interior to inform the British authorities about recent developments with respect to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the details of a case registered against its chief, Altaf Hussain.

He added that once the Interior Ministry provides these details, then the matter will be taken up by the government at diplomatic level.

It was further reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – the main channel to communicate with other countries – has not yet received any instructions to contact the United Kingdom on the issue.
