Altaf laments intellectual silence over Sep 30, Oct 1 tragedies

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday said that the tragic incidents of September 30th and October 1st are sad reminiscent of Mohajir killings, ARY News reported.

On the 26th anniversary of the martyrs of 30th September and 1st October, MQM chief said that both the killing incidents were a conspiracy to pit Sindh’s permanent residents against each other. Innocent Mohajir men, women and children were massacred.

He lamented that the culprits of the deadly massacre are still roaming free and the silence of intellectuals is based upon prejudice.

The Background

On Friday, September 30, 1988, a dozen gunmen on motorbikes fired indiscriminately at people in the streets making approximately 250 casualties , mostly Mohajirs, in South Hyderabad.
