One of New Zealand’s best overs. Pakistan not only failed to score well in this over, but also lost a wicket. Newcomer Imad Wasim wanted to play the ball down to his leg-side but ended up edging the ball straight into the hands of the wicket-keeper.

Controversial appeal for handling the ball against Sarfaraz Ahmed

A controversial appeal from New Zealand against Sarfaraz Ahmed for handling the ball was turned down by the third umpire after replays showed that Ahmed did not change his line of running back to the stumps to come in the way of the ball thrown by a fielder aiming to run him out.

The commentators rightly asked that why was Martin Guptill, who was not even in the line of sight when the throw was made, even making the appeal. One New Zealand commentator said that it was a “bad appeal”

Pakistan nearly lost a wicket as Sarfraz and Babar had a mixup. A boundary during the over helped Pakistan salvage 7 valuable runs from the over.

New Zealand innings

Amir was very economical, giving only 28 runs off his 8.1 overs. He left the field before finishing his ninth over and it seemed as if he had a strain in his leg which he wanted to have checked with the team physio.

Anwar Ali chipped in with three wickets as well but was very expensive, giving away 66 runs off 9.5 overs. Both Amir and Anwar Ali will be featuring in the Pakistan Super League for the Karachi Kings.
