Amitabh Bachchan receives ANR Awards
Megastar of bollywood Amitabh Bachchan was honored with Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) award for his remarkable more than four decades long contribution to Hindi cinema at a glittering ceremony in Hyderabad.
ANR awards are named after a late legendary actor Nageswara Rao. These awards recognize those film artists who have given an outstanding cultural and commercial identity to the Hindi cinema.
After receiving this award the 72-year-old megastar said, “It is privileged to be part of this industry. It is stalwarts like ANR who has given the film industry dignity, respectability and grace. Because of people like him that the industry survives.”
The organizers of the awards (Akkieneni family) thanked Amitabh Bachchan for receiving their award and they said it was a proud and precious moment for them.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of Telangana also graced the occasion, which was attended by many distinguished names from the film industry and Akkeineni family. The ANR awards were started in 2005 and so far Dev Anand, Hema Malini, Lata Mangeshkar, Shabanama Azmi and some other notable actors have received this award.
