One of the attackers was earlier killed in shootout with Elite Force personnel. While his second accomplice died just hours after who was under treatment at CMH Hospital.
They were dwelling in a residence in Raiwand, when law enforcers including police and elite force raided the house on tip-off and the battle ensued. The shootout continued for over eight hours between the police and attackers.
According to CCPO Lahore, a terrorist was killed and another was initially arrested injured in a targeted operation against militants in Pind Araiyan area at Raiwind road, which began in the early hours of the day. The dead terrorist was identified as Mehboob, a resident of Okara. Both of them attacked a residence in Raiwand which was some 2.5 kilometers off the Prime Minister’s house in the area.
A law enforcement official was killed and three were also injured in fight with the attackers
Sources told that both the attackers were trained in South Waziristan.
Provincial Minister for Law Rana Mashhood said that the prime minister’s Raiwind residence was the target of the terrorists.
A large quantity of weapons was also captured from the house around two kilometers’ distance from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Raiwind residence.
