In a three-day anti polio drive, at least 0.8 million children will be administrated polio drops. The inoculation will be conducted in 12 sensitive union councils of Karachi. Commissioner Karachi has ordered the deputy commissioners to supervise polio drive and ensure security of the vaccinators.
The government has stepped up efforts to contain polio, especially after admonitions from the World Health Organisation over growing epidemic of polio in Pakistan.
Recently, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had sent a letter to chief ministers of all four provinces to intensify efforts in their respective provinces to contain polio menace.
