The APC to discuss China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was held in a local hotel in Quetta today. It was attended by representatives of political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Balochistan National Party (BNP), Hazara Democratic Party, and Jamiat Ulemai-e-Islam-S (JUI-S), Balochistan Bar and trade bodies.
The APC was chaired by ANP Chief Asfand Yarwali Khan. While addressing the conference, ANP Chief said he feels proud over his party’s stand on the issue. He asked whether Pakistan would not prosper if Pakhtoons and Baloch prosper.
Speaking on the occasion, opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah urged that in order to save federation, rights of every unit should be protected.
Balouch leaders said Balochistan deserves to be benefitted at most from every project of Gwadar port. Leader of BNP-Mengal Mir Hamal Kalmati said People of Gwadar would not accept any development that benefits others rather than locals.
“Out of Rs.45 billion Pak-China agreements, only 2 billion rupees have been provided to Balochistan”, he complained.
According to the statement issued after the conclusion, APC has asked Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal to disclose actual facts and figures about the agreements made with China and to brief that how much each province will get out of total Chinese investment.
