The army chief will hold meetings with US defense officials and diplomats during his stay in the US. The officials of Pakistan Embassy in the United States welcomed the chief of army staff.
The COAS will initiate talks with US authorities on withdrawal of US forces from Aghanistan. This is the first visit of General Sharif to the US after assuming charge.
Prior to it, his predecessor General (retd) Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani had also visited the US in 2010.
