Army chief meets Afghan president, discusses regional security

Mr. Sharif also discussed with Ghani ways of coordination on Shawal operation to prevent terrorists from fleeing to Afghanistan, said military spokesperson Major General Asim Salim Bajwa.

The meeting expressed optimism that for positive outcome of reconciliation process being pursued through the Quadrilateral Co-ordination Group.

General Sharif reiterated ‘whole-hearted support to Afghan leadership for peace and stability in Afghanistan.’

While, Afghan leadership acknowledged Pakistan Army’s efforts and achievements in war against terrorism and its role for bringing peace and stability in the whole region.

Earlier during his visit, the army chief also met Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Joseph Dunford, Commander US Central Command Gen Lloyd Austin and Lt. Gen. John Nicholson.
