Army chief’s statement against corruption is positive: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Minister of Defense of Pakistan Khawaja Asif stated that army chief’s statement against corruption was positive, ARY News reported.

Khawaja Asif supported General Raheel Sharif’s remarks on corruption and said that effective laws should be made to tackle the issue of corruption.

Army chief General Raheel Sharif had sent shockwaves yesterday when he called for across-the-board accountability just when the Prime Minister was about to return from a visit to London. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had gone to London to have his medical check-up.

The federal government has been under tremendous pressure ever since the Panama leaks controversy surfaced in which offshore properties of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s children were disclosed.

General Raheel Sharif had stated ‘accountability’ at all levels is essential for integrity, solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan.
