Army tasked with guarding Karachi’s entry, exit points

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to deploy Pakistan Army along with other law enforcement officials to catch and block entry of suspicious elements and vehicles into the provincial capital, ARY News reported.

The decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting of the government high-ups today.

Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo informed the ARY New that it had been decided to deploy Pakistan Army along with police and Rangers at entry and exit points of Karachi.

The deployments of law enforcement agencies will be made at three points – Karachi-Balochistan highway, Super Highway and National Highway. The Addl. IG said three separate teams had been constituted comprising police, Rangers and Army personnel.

The additional IG said deployment of LEAs along entry and exit points was meant to keep eye on suspicious persons and checking of vehicles transporting drugs and weapons into the city.

He said suspects involved in such acts will be arrested forthwith.
