Police produced accused Mohsin Ansari before the court today and pleaded for extension in remand.

The investigation officer in his plea said that the accused has been involved in attack on the office of ARY News television channel and the investigators want to question him about the other accused involved in the attack.

The ATC judge granted 10 days remand of the accused to police.

Armed workers of MQM on August 22 forcibly entered ARY News’ Saddar office and destroyed the office’s reception, marketing section, harassed workers and set ablaze vehicles of the channel employees.

The attack occurred allegedly after party chief Altaf Hussain’s speech in which he incited the workers to attack media houses and allegedly asked them to raise anti-Pakistan slogans.

The party’s Karachi Rabita Committee dissociate itself from Altaf Hussain’s controversial statement while some senior members including Amir Liaquat Hussain and Irum Azeem Farooque left the party.
