ARY News hands Rs50,000 each to policemen injured in MQM attack

MQM workers on August 22 attacked media houses in Karachi following MQM chief Altaf Husain’s provocative speech in which he  accused ARY News and Samaa TV channels of not airing his speeches.

The ceremony was held on directive of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal at ARY News Bureau Office.

The injured police officers DSP Kanwar Asif, Inspector Peer Shabbir Hyder, constables Rao Arshad and Qamaruzzaman were handed over Rs50, 000 each by Operations Head ARY News, Abdul Ghani.

Bureau Chief Sindh SM Shakeel, senior reporter Shah Nawaz Shah, crime reporter Nazeer Shah and other reporters including Arbab Chandio, Kamil Arif, Anjum Wahab, Sami Farooq and Salahuddin were also present on the occasion.

Founder and CEO ARY Digital Network, Salman Iqbal talked to the injured policemen on phone and appreciated their bravery. The police officers and other personnel present on this occasion also thanked ARY News.

Earlier, IG Sindh Police AD Khawaja gave Rs50, 000 to each police officers in a ceremony held at Central Police Office today.

It is pertinent here to mention that MQM workers on Monday evening ransacked ARY News office in Karachi’s Saddar area, destroying the office’s reception and marketing section.

The armed workers of the political party snatched firearms from security guards, started abusing and torturing channel workers, stole and damaged property in the episode which continued for more than an hour.
