Led by assistant commissioner Dr. Rani Hafsa and Superintendant Police Saddar Circle Sultan Meeran, police contingents of Saddar and City police station raided ARY office, surrounded the building, harassed the staff along with other journalists.
Police party kept searching vehicles outside the office for two hours.
Electronic Media Association General Secretary Liaquat Naqvi along with other journalists reached the spot as soon as the news was aired on TV channel and strongly condemned the police action while commenting that all efforts to curb media freedom will be resisted.
ARY media group is constantly facing threats from the government machinery for past few months. Banning of ARY News anchor Mubasher Lucman, persecution of its investigative journalist Iqrar-ul-Hasan’s team and several periods of partial transmission bans.
