The ATC handed out 81 years of life imprisonment to Mr. Hussain and also imposed a fine of Rs 2.4 million on the MQM head besides ordering confiscation of all his assets over hate speeches against armed forces of the country.
Mr. Hussain has been under hot water following his diatribe against Pakistan army and Rangers in the wake of Karachi operation.
Several cases have been registered against MQM chief across the country on treason charges, provocative speeches and hurling allegations against armed forces.
The Lahore High Court had also ordered bar on media coverage of Altaf Hussain. The ban was recently challenged by the MQM through its counsel Asma Jahangir.
