ATC orders 90 days detention of Tariq Mehboob

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Karachi Thursday ordered 90 days detention of Sunni Ittehad Council leader, Tariq Mehboob accused of extortion and harboring target killers, ARY News reported.

According to details, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) had apprehended Tariq Mehboob a couple of days ago from Karachi, who was produced before an ATC today.

Rangers took the stance that the SIC leader is involved in serious crimes including extortion demanding and harboring target killers.

Officials requested the court to hand over the accused on 90 days detention for interrogation’s sake.

According to the prosecutor, Mehboob denied allegations against him and stated that it is the leader of a political party who is deteriorating the law and order situation of the metropolis from sitting abroad.

The court however ordered 90 days detention of the accused and handed him over to the paramilitary personnel.
