KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday remanded Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former chairman of Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS) Dr Nisar Morai in Rangers’ custody for 90 days, ARY News reported.

According to Rangers’ counsel, Morai confessed to have smuggled currency through launches at the behest of political figures. The suspect is also said to be involved in multiple incidents of target killing and terrorism.

Nisar Morai, during initial investigations, has alleged key political figures of terrorism in the province.

The ATC ordered officials to present a joint investigation team (JIT) report against Nisar Jan Memon alias Nisar Morai in 15 days.

On March 10, law enforcers took Morai into custody as he reached Islamabad airport from abroad. He is charged with funding of gang war members in Karachi, large-scale corruption in public funds and other serious crimes.

Morai was also required by Rangers for questioning after startling disclosures by infamous Lyari gang lord Uzair Baloch.
