Attacks on Rangers’ posts may have ‘political motives’: AIG Karachi

KARACHI: Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi, Mushtaq Mehr on Monday said that ‘there may be political motives of some people behind recent attacks on police stations and Rangers’ checkposts in Karachi’, ARY News reported.

Speaking to traders here, Mehr admitted that street crimes have now started taking place at 50 locations across the megapolis, which were earlier contained to 35 places.

Asked about growing traffic issues, he declared sewerage water and impaired traffic signals to be the cause of frequent traffic jams in the city, which has resulted in mugging incidents.

The AIG Karachi said that cellular phones should also be registered biometrically, just like SIM-cards, for which software is being designed.
