Authorities decide replacing Shahid Hayat as FIA director

KARACHI: Authorities on Tuesday decided to replace Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sindh, Shahid Hayat, while he has also requested higher officials for 15 days leave, ARY News reported.

Hayat, who earned good reputation through effective measures against corruption and crime in Sindh, today submitted an application requesting 15 days leave. He cited his mother’s ailment for seeking leave.

Sources, on the other contrary, said that authorities decided to replace Shahid Hayat following the arrest of Imran Sheikh.

Sheikh is believed to be a close aide of JS Bank Chairman Jehangir Siddiqui, who the intelligence agencies took into custody some time ago and later freed after grilling him about money laundering.

The ones about whom Imran Sheikh was questioned also included Director FIA Sindh Shahid Hayat.

Concerned authorities, after grilling Sheikh, decided to replace Hayat as FIA director.
