'Ayyan Ali could face five years behind bars'

The customs’ special court on Monday rejected bail plea of supermodel Ayyan Ali, who was arrested and charged with money laundering from Islamabad airport.

According to investigation officer, Ali has confessed her crime and she might be sentenced up to five years in prison.

The hearing of model Ayyan Ali on money laundering case took place in customs’ special court today. The hearing was presided over by Judge Mumtaz Hassan Chaudhry during which the famous model submitted her written statement to the court.

During the hearing, custom officials submitted records on bail plea of Ayyan Ali. The court rejected her bail plea.

On the occasion, Raja Hafeez, father of supermodel, said he was disheartened on treatment being doled out to her daughter.

Ayyan Ali was arrested and charged with money laundering on March 14, 2015 by the officials of Airport Security Force (ASF) at Benazir International Airport in Islamabad when she was boarding a flight to UAE.

She was off to Dubai through a private airline when ASF checked her luggage on the counter and discovered US $506,800.

Later, Ayyan was presented before a customs judge who sent her to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. She has been currently detained at Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
