The provincial minister of finance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s PTI government was according to the content in the first investigation report found to forcibly taking away ballot boxes from a polling station.
The vote count was under way in Hemath Adda polling station of Dera Ismail Khan when PTI minister Ali Amin Gandapur accompanied by his brother Umar Amin Gandapur, a candidate for tehsil nazim, and his armed supporters arrived, picked up the ballot boxes and began putting them in the minister’s car.
The police officers on duty tried to stop the minister but failed to do so. SHO Cantt police station Saifur Rehman has registered the FIR against the minister. The FIR at Saddar police station booked Gandapur, his brother Umar and their security guards under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including assaulting a public servant to deter him from his duties.
Complainant SHO said the MPA used abusive language towards him, manhandled him and gave death threats.
According to media reports, Ali Amin Gandapur has denied the allegations in the FIR.
