Basit Ali receives death threats

KARACHI: Chief Selector of Pakistan junior cricket team Basit Ali said on Thursday that he has received death threats for not selecting Zahid Mehmood in Pentangular Cup, ARY News reported.

Basit Ali informed ARY News that Pervez Chandio, who belongs to Dadu, has threatened him to kill for not selecting domestic cricketer Zahid Mehmood. He said that Pervez Chadnio works in Karachi.

The 26-year old, Zahid Mahmood is a leg-spinner and belongs to Dadu, Sindh. His major teams are Hyderabad, Hyderabad Hawks and Larkana Bulls. .

The Chief selector of Pakistan junior further said that he has reported the issue to high officials of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

” If anything happen to me First Information Report (FIR) should be filed against Pervez Chandio”, he added.

Basit Ali, who played 19 Tests and 50 Tests for Pakistan, was appointed as chief selector of Pakistan junior cricket team on April 28, 2014.
