BCCI Secretary rules out chances of Pak-India cricket series over Dawood Ibrahim claims

New Delhi: In a latest outburst at Pakistan following suspension of government-level talks, the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur has ruled out chances of Pak-India cricket series in December, giving an excuse of Dawood Ibrahim’s alleged presence in Karachi.

“Dawood in Karachi. NSA wants to meet separatists here. Are you really serious about peace and you expect we’ll play cricket with you?” Thakur said in a twitter message.

The BCCI was scheduled to have a series with Pakistan in UAE in December but Thakur has made it clear that no cricketing ties will resume until, according to India, cross border terrorism stops.

Pakistan said late Saturday it could not accept India’s “preconditions” for the talks which had been scheduled for Sunday in New Delhi, effectively cancelling them.

Last year India cancelled talks with Pakistan because of a meeting between Islamabad and Kashmiri separatist officials, a move that set back already tense relations between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
