MQM member, SA Iqbal Qadri tabled the bill of 24th amendment, during the session of National Assembly presided by the Speaker, Ayaz Sadiq. Qadri said that overseas Pakistanis have a right to vote, they should also be permitted to contest the elections.
After this, the bill was forwarded to the concerned standing committee for further proceedings.
MNA Jamshed Dasti tabled another draft seeking the formation of a new province in Southern Punjab, which was opposed by the treasury members and eventually rejected through majority of votes.
Meanwhile, several other drafts pertaining to the prevention of desecration of graves, increasing the punishment of those consuming human flesh and ensuring security of journalists, were also tabled in the assembly, which were forwarded to concerned committees.
