Blackwell, Perry help Australia outperform India in first ODI

CANBERRA: Australia Women defeated India Women by 121 runs in the first one day international at Canberra thanks to a century by Alex Blackwell and an all round performance by Ellyse Perry, ARY News reported.

Australia won the toss and opted to take guard.

The Southern Stars amassed 276/6 in their 50 overs. Blackwell was the stand out batswoman as she scored 114 runs from 112 balls with the help of 12 boundaries.

Perry also made 90 runs from 118 balls with seven fours and a six to her name as well. Skipper Meg Lanning provided a solid start to her team as she made 43 runs from 46 balls.

Shikha Pandey grabbed three wickets for India.

India were dismissed after scoring 175 runs in 46.5 overs. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 42 balls from 72 balls while Jhulan Goswami made 25 runs from 29 balls.

Perry took four wickets while conceding 45 runs in her 10 overs whikle Megan Schutt, Jess Jonassen and debutante Grace Harris grabbed a wicket each.
