Alert Zakaria Express driver evades tragedy, after blast derails goods train

Driver of Zakaria Express train timely watched the coaches of the freight train lying on railway track and applied brakes to avoid the head on collision with the derailed bogies lying on the track. No loss of life reported in the incident.

IG Hyderabad has said the bomb blast on the track was an act of terrorism. The incident took place because of a bomb planted on railway track. He said the same saboteurs have been involved in the incidents that happened in the past attacking and damaging railway tracks.

Rescue and security personnel reached the blast site after the incident. The saboteurs have also targeted the railway tracks in the past causing damage to the train service.

Two bogies of Jaffar Express train were partially damaged on Jan 28, 2016, in an explosion near railway tracks in Mithri area of Balochistan’s Sibi district.

While, a blast targeting Karachi-bound passenger train in Rahim Yar Khan had damaged railway track around midnight on Aug 8, 2015.
