The chiefs of Karachi chapter of both the parties – JI’s Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and PTI’s Ali Zaidi have been booked under Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the Pakistan Penal Code on behalf of the state.
Under the law, whoever wrongfully restrains any person shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term that may extend to one month or with a fine that may extend to Rs1,500 or with both.
Jamshed SP Dr Fahad has also confirmed that cases had been registered against both the leaders.
He said the leaders were arrested as they did not follow the legal way to hold a gathering near Quaid’s mausoleum.
