Iqrarul Hassan, anchorperson and host of the programme Sar-e-Aam was arrested after he carried out a sting operation by entering the premises of the Sindh Assembly with one of his crew members carrying a firearm. The operation was meant to expose poor security mechanism at the assembly.

The crew member unveiled the pistol and showed it to the Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani to expose the security lapse, thus stirring up a debate regarding security of the house.

The Speaker ruled that no one including journalists would be allowed to enter the assembly without undergoing security checks. Later on, Iqrar and his team member were arrested and given in custody of Arambagh police.

The anchorperson was however released by the court on bail today.
