Chehlum security: Pillion riding banned in Sindh for two days

KARACHI – The provincial government of Sindh has imposed a two-day ban on pillion riding in Karachi ahead of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to be observed on November 21 (Monday).

The notification has also been issued in this regard by the Home Department.

The ban has been imposed on the recommendation of the Sindh police, as part of a security measure and prevent any untoward incident.

The ban will not be applicable on women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies/security agencies in uniform, and employees of the essential services.

According to the notification, the ban has been imposed in pursuance of section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for the maintenance of law and order and security in the city on the sacred occasion.

Sindh Police have also chalked out an elaborate security plan on the day of Chehlum.
