Chief ANA, Commander ISAF call on COAS Raheel Sharif

RAWALPINDI: Chief of General Staff Afghan National Army (ANA), General Sher Muhammad Karimi and Commander ISAF, General John Campbel assured full co-operation to Pakistan in the fight against terrorism during meeting with General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff at GHQ, Rawalpindi today, ARY News reported.

According to press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), both leaders assured their full support in fight against terrorism and eliminating terrorists on Afghan soil.

The visiting dignitaries expressed their grief over the tragic terrorist’s act of Peshawar School in which 149 innocent lives were lost including 133 children, ISPR added.

During the meeting General Raheel Sharif appreciated recently commenced operations by Afghan forces against TTP in areas close to Pak – Afghan Border.

He vowed to extend full support to the visiting Afghan Chief of General Staff and ISAF Commander in all spheres, including coordinated operations in respective areas by both sides and sharing of intelligence.

Furthermore, the trilateral meeting discussed Overall security situation in the region, matters relating to coordination on the Pak – Afghan border and protocols put in place to improve border control.

The ISPR stated that both Chief of General Staff ANA and ISAF Commander acknowledged that due to the successful and non-discriminatory Zarb-e-Azb Operation of the Pakistani Security Forces, Pak Army’s Operational gains were appreciable and terrorists networks have been seriously degraded.
