Chief suspect in Fahad Malik murder arrested while fleeing to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: The chief suspect in the murder of Barrister Fahad Malik, the nephew of former Chairman Senate Muhammad Mian Soomro, was arrested after attempting to flee to Afghanistan.

According to sources, Raja Irshad was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from Torkham border.

During the initial interrogation he revealed that he intended to go onwards to Europe . He had attempted to cross the border from Chaman, but then he decided to travel through Torkham.

Yesterday, another suspect and accomplice Nauman Khokhar, was arrested after the extension for his interim bail was rejected. Additional session judge Pervez Qadir Memon refused to succumb to pressure after which Khokhar was arrested from the premises of the court.

Fahad Malik was gunned down on 15th August in Sector F-10 after a heated argument between two groups. They were taken to a police station for mediation but was shot dead afterwards.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has contacted the family members of Fahad Malik and informed them about the progress in the case. He vowed to bring to the perpetrators to justice.

It may be mentioned that the British government has also taken notice of the incident as Fahad was a British citizen , and asked the government of Pakistan to inform about progress in his murder investigation.
